What’s shakin’ at Rodzart 7-31-2009

Hi folks. I hope everyone has had a good week. Me, Jack and Fred have done pretty well this week. We finished one acrylic painting; “Expression 936”; and started one, oil over acrylic painting. On the oil over acrylic painting, “By the light of the moon”, I painted the background in acrylic and then did the moon and the foreground in oil. I expect to have it finished and photographed early next week.

I’ve still got a couple of unfinished paintings going, the geometric which I’ve been working on and another which is more of a symbolist type of painting.
Hopefully they’ll be finished some time next week. I’m also planning to do more ACEO’s and work on paper, with any luck at all this weekend.

What’s shakin’ at Rodzart 7-24-2009

Hi folks. Surprise, it’s only been a week and I’m doing another Blog entry. Better check your blood pressure; I know it must be quite a shock.

I’ve been working on a number of paintings this week, a geometric painting, some stuff on paper, I finished one painting; Expression 925; and uploaded it on Tuesday. Look for a new Pollock style painting early next week. I’ve also got a symbolist painting in the works, but it’ll be several weeks for it to be finished.

Just for the heck of it I did a painting on a 35 ½ X 7 ¾ inch piece of cardboard I found. I worked on it for a couple of days, and the result was jump up.
If you look at it for a few minutes, I think you’ll see what I mean.

Friday is usually my day for working on paper, and I hope to do 1 or 2 5 X7 cards and an ACEO or two today.

What’s shakin’ at Rodzart 7-17-2009

OK I confess, it’s been a ridiculously long time since I’ve done a Blog entry. I have no excuse, other than to say that time gets away from me sometimes. I’ll try to do better though.

Now to catch up a little. I lost my j-o-b back in April, although I can’t say as I was too disappointed walk out of there.
That job was rotting my brain, and I was really getting fed up with the arrogant and abusive bosses in that company.
As most of you know, I’ll bet, when times are hard, bosses think that they can do anything they want to you, and you’ll just meekly take it because you have no other prospects. Well you can only take that kind of crap for so long, before it becomes too much. By the time I got out of there I was drinking my way into alcoholism, my blood pressure was astronomical and my diabetes was completely out of control. No j-o-b is worth dieing for. Rant complete.

Since then, rather than thinking of it as unemployment, I see this as a chance to realize me dram of many many years, to paint full time. So Jack, Fred (the watch gecko) and I have been in the studio almost every day, painting like crazy.
If you haven’t looked at the abstract gallery lately, take a peek, there’s a lot of new stuff in there. In addition to painting, I’m hoping to redesign my web site a little. It’s fallen a bit behind the times. I plan to keep painting Oils, and Acrylic, but I’m also going to do some paintings in gouache on watercolor paper, and some ACEO’s.

My original paintings are still available through the website http://www.rodzart.com , or at auction at http://www.artbyus.com/auctions.php?a=6&b=85. I just set up a store on Etsy too. Http://rodzart.etsy.com . I’m planning to offer an original painting on canvas occasionally, but primarily I’ll be listing works on paper, and ACEO.

I’m very proud to say that I’ve been listed on the website Abstract Artist.com http://www.abstractartist.com/index.html a site that specializes in the promotion of abstract art.
To be listed on the same page as Jackson Pollock is an indescribable thrill!
